Stuttgart is the home of Mercedes Benz, one of the most prestigious car companies in the world and is domicile of the international headquarters of Daimler AG. Consequently Mercedes Benz has picked this city as location for its new museum that was opened in 2006 and simply has to be called a paradise for every automobile fan.

With more than 160 vehicles on 16.500 square meters exhibition space, the Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart invites its visitors on a journey from the invention of the automobile to the latest visions for the future. Some of the most impressive cars in this extensive collection are the legendary Silver Arrows, which were used in the Grand Prix motor races between 1934 and 1939, as well as the vehicles of Germany’s last imperator Wilhelm II and the former Japanese emperor Hirohito.

Even if you are not particularly interested in cars, the Mercedes Benz Museum is certainly worth a visit while in Stuttgart. Designed by UN Studio, one of the most highly esteemed architecture firms in the world, the unique building made of glass and aluminum is considered a milestone of modern architecture.

Stuttgart's Mercedes Benz Museum offers several audio as well as guided tours. During the Fascination of Technology tour you have the chance to find out everything about Mercedes Benz’ newest developments in technology and design. Additionally there are tours focusing on the automobile history or the architecture of the building, where visitors gain insight in the state—of—the—art design of the Mercedes Benz Museum.
