The delights of Germany are varied and rich. If art and architecture are your kind of thing, then Germany offers a very unique glimpse into some of the world’s most diverse architecture. From the renaissance to the modern high-rise, a holiday in Germany offers visitors the chance to see the country’s most famous buildings, from gothic cathedrals such as Freiburg’s Munster cathedral to the more futuristic wing of German architecture such as the Potsdamer Platz and Leipziger Platz in Berlin. For art lovers, example of Baroque sculpture, including works by Andreas Schulter are easily accessible in Berlin (Berlin vacation rentals | Berlin travel guide), as are several of Germany’s most famous paintings by Caspar David Friedrich and Otto Runge.
Historical sites and tours are often at the top of the list for those seeking to explore the rich delights of Germany. In fact, Germany’s most popular tourist attraction, the Berlin wall, a structure that has not existed for over twenty years, but a visit to the site of the wall, which separated East and West Berlin, and caused controversy all over the world. Visitors can find out more information by visiting the Gedenkstatte Berliner Mauer, a memorial and documentation centre, which was also created as an art installation and an outdoor gallery. The Mauermuseum, otherwise known as Hausam or Checkpoint Charlie is also a must see site for anyone interested in Cold War era Germany.
One should not forget to count outdoor activities among the delights Germany has to offer. As well as arts and popular tourist attractions, Germany also gives visitors the chance to keep fit, because it has superb cycling facilities, and is well known for its cycling routes. If you don’t want to cycle, then walking is also very popular, and clear signposted trails are a common site in the country.
So there are just a few things to do on Germany, and it doesn’t matter what kind of break you’re after, whether it’s a weekend away, or if you’re looking for something more specific, like cheap all-inclusive holidays, then Germany is such a tempting choice for your next trip.
