Take your time to visit the most interesting spots in the internationally renowned tourist resort. St. Sixtus church is one of the most magnificent churches in the Bavarian Oberland, then make a stop at St. Martin. The former monastery church arose in the 8th century, and therefore is the oldest church in the Catholic parish. The Town Hall is one of the most remarkable in the whole alpine region. The original court house of 1477 was rebuilt in 1919/20 by well-known artists and craftsmen to the present City Hall. St. George, on the vineyard hill, can be reached in a few minutes from the Town Hall of Schliersee. From here, you will enjoy a wonderful view over the lake and mountains. The church St. Leonhard in Fischhausen is located on the road from Schliersee to Neuhaus. Since 1657 she is particular frequented by horse owner of the entire region. During the Leonhardifahrt in November, festively decorated horse carriages come in a procession from Schliersee to St. Leonhard's Church, where an open church service and the blessing of the horses takes place. Also recommendable are visits to the Schlierseer Heritage Museum, home in the former prison building from the 16th century, and the Museum’s Village in Fischhausen, founded by ski champion and double Olympic champion Markus Wasmeier.

Spend the rest of the day by the lake Schliersee or enjoy a boat ride. The boat leaves hourly and brings you to the most interesting spots of the lake, which is 1.7 miles long and nearly 1 mile wide. In the middle of the lake is the small island of Wörth with a restaurant. If you like you can also rent a paddle boat to get around the lake and to the island.

Today, go on a scenic drive and visit the picturesque small Health Resort town of Bayrischzell, located at the foot of the Wendelstein Mountain. During summer Nordic walking is one of the favorite sport activities around here. But if you like to step back in time, a romantic horse carriage ride might be perfect for you. Along the way, your tour-guide will tell you some old tales and amusing anecdotes.

On your way back to your vacation apartment, stop at Bavarian Malt Whiskey Distillery, located in Schliersee/Neuhaus. On the basis of an informative film, you will first learn the art of Bavarian whiskey distillation. Then you are invited to a visit at the actual production facilities, followed by a whiskey and liqueur tasting. When you return to the shop area you can choose from an additional range of fine fruit brandies and fruit liqueurs, gifts, accessories and much more.

Enjoy a hearty Bavarian breakfast before exploring the, with 28.3 hectares, largest high mountain lake in Bavaria. The Spitzingsee lies only about five kilometers south of the Schliersee - or a few hundred meters south of the Spitzingsattel - at an altitude of 3,556 ft in the stunning beauty of the Bavarian Alps. There is also a small village Spitzingsee with about 200 inhabitants on the lake, which belongs to Schliersee. While the whole region is famous for winter sports, during the warmer months the lake offers various recreational facilities and the mountains invite for long walks. The cable cars or chair lifts on Spitzingsee bring you safely and comfortably up to about 4,900 ft altitude, where nature lovers find hiking areas with spectacular views of Alpine mountain peaks. Don't miss out on the opportunity of a rustic Bavarian Brotzeit at one of the mountain pastures along the way.

Day 5: Wendelstein Mountain

Hiking is relaxation for body and soul. At the famous Wendelstein Mountain you find a lot of very attractive trails. The starting point of walking tours is always the mountain top station at 6,675 ft altitude. A restaurant offers the hungry and thirsty walkers delicious Bavarian specialties to regain their strengths on return.

Since 1970, the striking Wendelstein is accessible from two sides. As a counterpart to the romantic Rack Railway - Germany's first and oldest high mountain railway - a fast cable car was built, connecting the summit with the Leitzachtal. However, the ride on the scenic route past lush flower meadows, through the shady forest, over rugged rocks, up at the Wendelstein mountain range is a unique experience! Only a few steps away from the restaurant House Wendelstein is the lookout point Gacher Sicht. From here, the visible mountain ranges include the individual peaks of Wilder Kaiser and Großglockner, the majestic peaks of Rofan, Karwendel and the Wettersteingebirge up to the Zugspitze.

Day 6: A day on the Schliersbergalm

The Schliersbergalm is one of the most popular destinations in the German Alps. A modern cable car brings you in just 4 minutes up to the lofty height of 3,480 ft, from where you can enjoy another beautiful day in the Bavarian Alps. Also wheelchair users can reach the Schliersbergalm without problems via the cable car!

The holiday park offers additional fun on the mountain top with the Alpine Roller, a rail track similar to a roller coaster. Down it goes with speed and all the way back up with the help of a small electric motor in each vehicle. How about a dip in the swimming pool with the backdrop of the stunning panoramic views, or a round of mini-golf? The restaurant serves seasonal delicacies, organizes rustic barbecues on the panoramic terrace, a romantic candle-lit dinner, stylish fondue / raclette evenings and hearty torch hikes in the winter. And during summer the toboggan run is the sporty alternative to the cable car to get back to Schliersee.
