Day 1: Frankfurt Airport (or Main Station) to Nuremberg

By High-speed Rail (ICE) it takes less than 2,5 hours from Frankfurt/Frankfurt Airport to Nuremberg. Your hotel (Hotel Victoria) is located in the Old Town just across from Nuremberg Main Station. The “Christkindles Markt” (Christ Child´s Market) in Nuremberg is among the most famous Christmas Markets in Germany. Held on Hauptmarkt square, one can enjoy the delicious Nuremberg Bratwurst while marveling at the beautifully decorated stalls offering local and traditional handicrafts and specialties in a mediaeval atmosphere. In midst the Old Town you find the Imperial Castle - one of the most important imperial palaces dating from the middle ages from the 11th century (admission included).


Day 2: Nuremberg to Regensburg

In a little less than an hour the High-speed train (ICE) will take you from Nuremberg to Regensburg. Your hotel (Park Hotel Maximilian) is located close to Regensburg Main Station. The historic Regensburg Christmas Market is located in front of Regensburg´s landmark: the Neupfarrkirche. Once a pilgrimage church (“Pilgrimage to the beautiful Virgin Mary”), the former Catholic Church after Reformation became the new parish of protestant Regensburg. During Christmas time the taste of punch, cookies, cinnamon stars and roasted chestnuts is all around the Old Town of Regensburg. Enjoy a glass of punch with a roll with roasted sausages - it’s a must!


Day 3: Regensburg to Vienna

In a little less than four hours the High-speed train (ICE) will take you from Regensburg to Vienna. Your hotel (Flemming´s Hotel Wien Westbahnhof) is located very close to Vienna West Station, where your train arrives. The "Christkindlmarkt" on the square in front of the City Hall is Vienna's classic Christmas Market. Strolling among the elaborately decorated trees in the park, Viennese and visitors from all over the world can enjoy the wonderful Christmas atmosphere. The tree with seals, the "Kasperl tree", the "Herzerlbaum" (Hearts tree) as well as the "Post office in the clouds" offer a perfect setting for a souvenir photo.


Day 4: Vienna

Today you will be picked up at your hotel for the 3-hour City tour which also includes a visit to Schoenbrunn Palace. The tour will give you an overall impression of the most significant historical sights of Vienna. Along the Ringstrasse you will see numerous grand buildings, such as the MAK, the State Opera House, the magnificent Museum of Fine Arts with its world famous art treasures of the Habsburgs and the Natural History Museum, the cultural district the Museums Quartier, the Hofburg (the former Habsburg winter residence), the Parliament, the City Hall and the Burgtheater. The highlight of this tour will be a visit of the showrooms of Schonbrunn Palace, once the summer residence of the Habsburg family and home of Maria Theresia. On the way back to the opera you will pass by the Belvedere Palace, the former summer residence of Prince Eugen, which houses the largest and the most precious Gustav Klimt collection in the world.


Day 5: Salzburg

In about 2 hours and 40 minutes the High-speed “Rail Jet” (RJ) will take you from Vienna to Salzburg. Your hotel (Ramada Hotel Salzburg City Center) is located right at Salzburg Main Station. In the afternoon you will be picked up from your hotel to join the English-speaking most unique 4-hour Sound of Music tour. This tour is an ideal opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Maria von Trapp whilst taking in local historical sights both from the city of Salzburg and also the picturesque Lakes and Mountains region along the way. In the evening make sure to visit the wonderful Christmas market in Salzburg. The historic market was first mentioned in the 15th century is located at the foot of the Hohensalzburg fortress and around the Cathedral. This Christmas market offers many different crafts, local specialties and other Christmassy items.


Day 6: Munich

On board of the High-speed “Rail Jet” (RJ) it takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes from Salzburg to Munich. Your hotel (King´s Hotel Center) is located close to Munich Main Station. Your tour already includes the admission to many sights in Munich (Residence Museum, Treasury, Cuvilliés-Theatre, Hall of Fame and Statue of Bavaria, Nymphenburg Palace and Park, Marstallmuseum, Museum of Nymphenburg Porcelain) which can be visited today before you spend the evening discovering yet another beautiful and very traditional Christmas market, famous throughout the world. Munich's Christmas market is held on Marienplatz since the 14th century.


Day 7: Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace

Today you are on your way to one of the Highlights of your tour: your all day escorted coach tour will first take you to Oberammergau for a photo stop. The coach will then take you to Linderhof Palace, the "Royal Villa" of Ludwig II. Visit this beautiful furnished castle and the park. The picture of Neuschwanstein is probably present in everybody's mind but certainly for those traveling along the Romantic Road. Be prepared that reality will surpass all pictures and imaginations: Neuschwanstein seems to be taken out of a fairy tale! Seeing the castle from the outside is unforgettable, a tour of the insight, which was originally built for the one famous inhabitant, will make the picture perfect! Make sure to take some time to explore the castle ground, the view of Neuschwanstein from the bridge behind the Castle is like no other! Admission to Linderhof Palace and Neuschwanstein Castle is included in the price of the tour.


Day 8: Heidelberg

In about 3 hours the Speed-train InterCity (IC) will take you directly from Munich to Heidelberg, beautiful town on the Neckar River. Since the Station is a little further from the Old town we included taxi transfers to/from your hotel into the package so you can stay at the Hollander Hof which is located at the most superb location of town – just across from the Old Bridge. At the hotel you are right in the Center of the Old Town. Heidelberg Castle is towering above the city. The historic Christmas market is held on seven squares around the Old Town, featuring those typical stalls displaying Christmas handicrafts, local specialties. At night enjoy the splendid view of the illuminated castle.

A taxi will take you from the hotel to Heidelberg Main Station. The train takes about one hour from Heidelberg to Frankfurt Airport.
