This is the original Christmas Markets tour from/to Frankfurt Airport with a relaxed itinerary for you to enjoy this great time of the year. Along this tour you have the opportunity to visit some of Germany's & Austria's most atmospheric Christmas markets: Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Munich, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Heidelberg. The tour is set up to be very relaxed: when you arrive from your international flight your first hotel in Frankfurt is just minutes from the airport. The next day the High-Speed ICE train takes you to Munich where you will stay for four nights at a well rated hotel (e.g. King´s, Courtyard by Marriott). From Munich you will make day trips by rail to Salzburg and Innsbruck and by escorted coach to the Royal Castles, Linderhof Palace and Neuschwanstein Castle. On your way back from Munich to Frankfurt Airport you will visit Heidelberg for the last night of your tour at a well rated hotel (e.g. Marriott, Hollander Hof). A taxi transfer to/from your hotel is included in the price of this tour. Heidelberg is just one hour from Frankfurt Airport and the trains run frequently. Frankfurt's Christmas market is one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany, its beginnings reaching back to the year 1393. The location on Römerberg square is very romantic, the market attracts over 3 million visitors every year. Advent concerts and trumpet-playing from the tower of St.-Nicholas's -Church are part of the daily program. Of course Frankfurt is also a metropolis which offers many other tourist attractions such as the museums on the Main riverbank, the Goethe House, where the famous poet once lived and the "Zeil", where one can find even more Christmas presents. Spend the night in a hotel close to Frankfurt's main station.


Day 2: Nuremberg & Munich

In a little bit over three hours the High-Speed ICE train will take you from Frankfurt to Munich if you decide to go straight to Munich. On your way you will pass Nuremberg. Nuremberg´s “Christkindl Market” is definitely one of the most popular Christmas Markets in Germany. You may visit this town on your way to Munich by depositing your baggage in the lockers right at Nuremberg Station. The Old Town is just a few walking minutes from the Station. While you are there you may also visit the Imperial Castle which is towering above the City of Nuremberg (admission included). On board of the High-Speed ICE you will get to Munich. Your well rated hotel is located in walking distance to Munich Main Station. Visit the Residence Museum and Treasury, the Cuvilliés-Theatre, the Hall of Fame and Statue of Bavaria, Nymphenburg Palace and Park, the Marstallmuseum and the Museum of Nymphenburg Porcelain (admission included in the price of the tour to all of these sights) before you spend the evening discovering yet another beautiful and very traditional Christmas market. Famous throughout the world Munich's Christmas market is held on Marienplatz (Marien square) since the 14th century.

Today you will join an English speaking all day escorted coach tour to the Royal Castles. After a short stop in Oberammergau, where the World famous Passion Play is taking place every ten years (next performance in 2020), the tour will take you to Ettal for a visit of Linderhof Castle, the "Royal Villa" of the Bavarian King Ludwig II. This beautiful Palace is furnished in the style of the "second rococo" period. The picture of Neuschwanstein is probably present in everybody's mind but be prepared that reality will surpass all pictures and imaginations: Neuschwanstein seems to be taken out of a fairy tale! Seeing the castle from the outside is unforgettable, a tour of the insight, which was originally build for the one famous inhabitant, will make the picture perfect! But make sure to take some time to explore the castle grounds, the view of Neuschwanstein from the bridge behind it are like none other! You will be back in Munich around 6:30pm that evening.

Today you are off to another highlight, the city of Salzburg in Austria, only a two hour train ride from Munich on board of a regional train. Salzburg, birthplace of great composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, is a town dominated by churches, palaces and castles. The entire Old Town of this Austrian gem is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Before you go to the Christmas market you will join the English-speaking most unique 4-hour Sound of Music tour. This tour is an ideal opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Maria von Trapp whilst taking in local historical sights both from the city of Salzburg and also the picturesque Lakes and Mountains region along the way. Mozart City tour. And now to the city's wonderful Christmas market, which was first mentioned in the 15th century. Located at the foot of the Hohensalzburg fortress and around the Cathedral, this Christmas market offers many different crafts, local specialties and other Christmassy items. In the evening – at your convenience - return to your hotel in Munich.

By High-Speed train (ICE) it takes a little less than two hours from Munich to Innsbruck. Innsbruck Main Station is right in the City Center and it is an easy ten minute walk to the “Goldenes Dachl” (Golden Roof) where the Christmas Market is located. The entire complex of the Old Town is worth seeing with its historic buildings (e.g. Katzjunghaus, Trautsonhaus, Kohleggerhaus). Among the highlights certainly are the Golden Roof, the Old Town Hall with the Town Clock Tower, the Old Government Palace as well as St. James’s´ Cathedral. Swarovski crystals are from Innsbruck and there is a store in the old Town. But just outside of Innsbruck Crystal World is located. If you are interested to visit Swarovski Crystal World please let us know in advance. There are shuttle busses from Innsbruck Main Station running frequently. The coach take about 25 minutes to get there. In the evening – at your convenience - return to your hotel in Munich.


Day 6: Heidelberg

A direct Speed train (EC/IC) will take you in about three hours from Munich to Heidelberg. The tour includes a taxi voucher for a short ride to your First-class hotel (Marriott Heidelberg or similar). Take a funicular ride from Heidelberg Old Town up to the Castle from where you have a beautiful view over the city and the Neckar River. From the Castle walk down into the Old Town or take the funicular down into town. Heidelberg with its Old University is a lively city with many students living there. Heidelberg's Christmas market extends over five squares: Kornmarkt, Marktplatz, Universitätsplatz, Anatomiegarten and Bismarckplatz. From the market you have stunning views of the castle and the old quarter with its beautiful Christmas decorations. A wide array of crafts and tasty regional delicacies all add to the Christmas spirit in the historic town of Heidelberg.

By High-Speed train you will get to Frankfurt Airport. The trains rum frequently and the train ride takes about an hour. The train station at the airport is right at the departure terminal.
