Enjoy a 5-day-trip to and around Dudenhofen.

Riding on the pony farm in Hassloch or the horse farm on the Koller island (both some 10 km away). Bathing in different lakes in the region (only in summer). Hiking tours through the Palatinate forest (trail maps provided) – and especially the great breaks for food and drink in the famous Palatinate forest huts. Bike tours in the Rhine plains. Bikes (including e-bikes) can be rented in Speyer. Day trip by car into the Middle Rhine Valley, one hour’s drive away. To Bingen or Rüdesheim with boat tour to St. Goar, past the famous rock of the Loreley. Wine tasting at winemakers’ of the region are possible, optionally.

The journeys should be done individually. A car is required, as everything is nearby but not reachable by public transport.

Arrival in Speyer and city tour to imperial cathedral, historic old town and ‘Jewish bath’. Boat tour on the Rhine, into the river forest. Dinner at the Domhof (private brewery with German food, bratwurst, sauerkraut, Haxen, German beer)


Day 2: Bad Durkheim

Travel to Bad Dürkheim to visit the Hardenburg castle and monastery ruins Limburg, followed by meal in the giant barrel of Bad Dürkheim. Tour of salt production facility and Kurpark. Then, trip to Neustadt/Weinstrasse, along the Weinstrasse (wine road) with many timber-framed houses. Possibility of direct purchase from vintners in the region.


Day 3: Silz

Drive to Silz to the wild animal and hiking park Southern Wine Road (Wild- und Wanderpark Südliche Weinstrasse) with large wolf enclosure as well as various kinds of deer, followed by trip to Dahn to visit castle Neudahn. Return journey past Wissembourg in the Alsace for eating Flamkuchen and through the ‘German Wine Gate’ (Deutsches Weintor) in Schweigen-Rechtenbach.


Day 4: Heidelberg

Heidelberg: Visit castle and old town, possibly boat tour on the Neckar river or ride up the Königstuhl. Afterwards, tour of baroque castle in Schwetzingen.


Day 5: Speyer

Visit of technology museum in Speyer with Europe’s largest space show. Then, visit to Holiday Park in Hassloch.
