Travel Itinerary
Day 1: Visiting Local Taverns
The Alt-Sachsenhausen area of Frankfurt, located close to the south bank of the River Main, is a traditional place to enjoy drinking in old taverns and beer gardens. Sachsenhausen was once a separate town, and many of its original buildings still stand in some form. The area of pubs around Groβe Rittergasser is rickety, small and full of character. It is the place to be on weekends, where people spill out onto the streets and enjoy the fun. It is also customary to drink the local Apple Wine when in this area. Quieter taverns, restaurants and music bars can be found in the streets in the surrounding area. Festivities begin at 7 pm.
Day 2: Botticelli exhibit at the infamous Städel Art Museum
Sandro Botticelli is without a doubt one of the leading figures of the Italian Renaissance. The ideal beauty of his mythological figures and the elegant grace of his Virgin figures make his creations the epitome of Florentine painting in the Golden Age under Lorenzo the Magnificent’s rule. The Städel Museum now presents a selection of portraits, mythological allegories and depictions of the Virgin Mary, comprising approximately 80 works by Botticelli, his workshop and his contemporaries. The exhibition also marks the first time the great master has been on comprehensive display on German soil.
Services:- One night including breakfast buffet at the desired hotel
- Tour guide for 2 1/2-hour city tour incl. visit of the Goethe House
- Admission ticket 55 € to the exhibition "Botticelli" at the Städel Museum

Day 3: Palmengarten and Römer
The Palmengarten is the largest garden of its kind in Germany. On 50 acres, the gardens display numerous beautiful and interesting plants throughout the year. In addition, the Palmengarten offers a variety of recreational activities including guided tours, summer concerts, evening festivals and exhibitions.
After your visit to the Palmengarten take an excursion to see the Römer (German surname, "Roman") part of town. Here you will find one of the city's most important landmarks; a medieval building in Frankfurt am Main. It has been the city hall or Rathaus for 600 years. The Römer merchant family sold it together with a second building, the Goldener Schwan (Golden Swan), to the city council on March 11, 1405 and it was converted for use as the city hall. The Haus Römer is actually the middle building of a set of three located in the Römerberg (a plaza).

How to maximize your savings and spend less during your Germany vacation?
You can cut down your vacation costs significantly by following these simple rules:
- Instead of eating out in restaurants most of the time your vacation rental apartment comes with a fully equipped kitchen. By preparing your breakfast and dinner yourself you can save lots of money, but you can also live a more authentic Germany vacation by trying out local foods and recipes. (see some German recipe suggestions.)
- Use public transportation instead of a rental car. We provide you with links and details on how to get around using public transportation. Check out the corresponding Live Like a German travel guide for more details.
