Hello dear guests! Make sure to make the cable car also down. We expect snow, and then the descent is very dangerous due to snow surfaces! I recommend sturdy shoes if you want to eat particularly well, proceed approx 100 meters downhill to the 'Tegelberg hut'. Then again the ascent to the station. No problem at your age! Do not forget, you are at high altitude, it is necessary warm clothes! Greetings from feet!

"Hello: Will I be able to walk from the Neuschwanstein castle through the Pollat Gorge? Kind regards, Jeff" (posted 05/20/2017)

Hello, at the moment you can just walk the "normal" way via Hohenschwangau to the Castle Neuschwanstein because the Pöllat-Gorge is closed. There are a few of those who have a lot of fun. But you can look from Marienbrücke (bridge) down at the gorge. Kind regards, Julia
Answer provided by Julia Schweiger on 05/22/2017
This answer is helpful
No. The Pöllat Gorge has been closed for quite some time because several rocks have slipped off the foundation of the castle NEUSCHWANSTEIN and have damaged bridges and railings there. It may be possible to go back next year, but at the moment nobody knows it. If you only want to get to the Tegelberg train, there are other ways to get there, but you have to make a march of just over an hour or take a bus. Peter

What are good places to go for shopping?

Any sporting activites and recommendations to stay active?

"My wife, our 6 year old son, and I want to take the cable car up Tegelberg and then hike down to Neuschwanstein castle in late June. Does this seem like a reasonable hike to do with a 6 year old? He's a pretty good hiker and the distance doesn't really concern me, I'm just worried about any treacherous stretches where a misplaced footstep or slight stumble could result in disaster. " (posted 06/04/2017)

A walk with a 6-year-old on the direct route from the Tegelberg to the castle Neuschwanstein should not be considered at all. It is much too dangerous. The path along the ski slope on the northern slope and over the pipe head hut may be a question, but with a smaller child, this route certainly takes 2 hours. Even the so-called "Reitweg" on the southern side of the mountain to the mountain hut Bleckenau has at least in the upper part still a whole series of difficulties. One would have to carry the child safely on long stretches. For the rest, the shorter route to Bleckenau is quite long and probably too much for such a small child. It would be better to take the mountain railway back into the valley and walk up the mountain station with the child. For a mountain bike tour with such small children, a visit to the castle ruins Freyberg-Eisenberg, Hopfen am See or Falkenstein or an alpine pasture such as the Beichelstein is more suitable. Servus.
