Hattenheim Castle
Hattenheim Castle

Hattenheim Castle was presumably built around 1100; the first official documents date back to 1411. For 300 years, this castle was home of Baron of Langwerth von Simmern. After the family moved, the castle was unoccupied and exposed to decay. In 1979, the castle was restored and extended by the local community. Today, Hattenheim Castle has become a cultural center for the “Weindorf” (wine village) during the “Schlemmerwoche” and the “Winzerfest” (wine maker festival), which takes place in August every year. Dates for 2010: 13th until 22nd of August, 2010
