Hattenheim Travel Tip:
Earliest documentation of an ancestral seat at the present location dates back to the 12th century. Wine has been cultivated here since 1337. The Palace as seen today was built in 1801. Marianne of Prussia, the daughter of King Wilhelm I., resided in this palace until she died in 1883. Marianne was a supporter of local artists and the arts in general and assembled an impressive collection of over 600 paintings; some of them are still on display. Today, the Palace is one of the most exquisite hotels of the Rhein region and visitors can enjoy wine from the nearby vineyard, which is the largest privately owned wine estate in the Rheingau.
