Corvey Castle

Corvey Castle is of significant importance and part of World’s Cultural Heritage. The castle is located next to the Weser-biking trail, close to the city of Höxter. The gorgeous gardens and parks surrounding the castle invite to a beautiful walk. The towers of the church date back to the 9th century and are one of the oldest existing structures in the area. The monastery was updated in Baroque style in the late 18th century and received its impressive imperial hall, along with the state chambers. The library of Corvey is considered to be one of the most extensive private collections of the 19th century with more then 74,000 books. In addition, visitors can learn about the history of Höxter in the permanent exhibition of the castle’s museum. Guided tours take place every Saturday and Sunday at 11am and 3pm. Enjoy delicious food in the castle’s restaurant which is open daily from April to October, 10am until 6pm. Driving distance from Gieselwerder: roughly 19 miles (30km), 35 min.
