Violin Making Museum
Violin Making Museum, Mittenwald
This museum is split into 2 main areas: how the local history of Mittenwald is intertwined with violin making, and the development of instrument making from the times of Matthias Klotz until today. It houses about 200 instruments from renowned Mittenwald workshops, high quality master violins as well as the simple instruments of trading companies, children violins up to double basses, and guitars, cisterns and zithers. Additionally, there are illustrative materials, pictures, maps and tools.
Hours: Main season: Open Tuesday - Sunday, February 1 - March 15, May 15 - October 14 and December 17 - January 6 from 10am - 5pm. Closed on Mondays. Off season: January 7 - 31, March 16 - May 14 and October 15 - November 4 from 11am - 4pm. Closed from November 5 - December 16 as well as December 24 and December 31.
