Ruhpolding, 7 nights in August 2010
By Mary Beth Bernheisel (Jackson, Tennessee, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Traunhaus"):
My family (my husband, our two small children, and my husband's parents) recently stayed in Traunhaus in Ruhpolding. It was an absolutely beautiful home that offered plenty of space for 6 of us to be comfortable and spread out. This home is immaculately maintained and well cared for. The owner, Herr Wink, was particularly attentive to our needs and made us feel very welcome. We didn't have a car, but had no problem getting to all of the sights we wanted to see. My husband and I rented bikes with a trailer for our children for some of our outings, but my husband's parents had no problem walking everywhere they wanted to go. The town is perfect for children. We never ran out of things to do. The food is marvelous and the people are warm and friendly. We would definitely stay here again for future vacations.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen, 1 week in late July 2010
By Maria Poppe (Columbia, Maryland, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Biersack Philipp"):
Dear Bettina,
It is hard to believe that two weeks have passed by already since we returned home to the states. We did have a beautiful time in Germany. It was all I wanted from this trip and then some. The apartments worked out very well. You were right. I did not have anything to worry about. We used only apartment Phillip to sleep and shower. Otherwise we were all together in apartment Toni. The rooms were spacious. The bathroom was large with double sinks, separate shower, large tub, and the commode was separate from the bathroom. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony facing the Alps. The apartment was well equipped. Everything we needed was there. We had most meals in the apartment. My son-in-law enjoyed going out every morning to get our brotchen, cheese, and wurst. He learned that from my husband. So breakfast was a treat for everyone. The weather in Garmisch that week was not the best. We had very hot weather in Northern Germany and cool and rainy in Southern Bavaria. However, it did not stop us and it did not rain the whole day. We lucked out on the day we went to the Zugspitze. It was 28 degrees Fahrenheit at the top but it was considerably clear. It was amazing and my grandchildren were very impressed. On Thursday before we left, we celebrated my granddaughter's 12th birthday. I wanted to do something special. Something she would remember. I also wanted something very typical Bavarian. I made reservations at Gasthof Fraundorfer. We had a table selected for us right next to the music. There was also two young boys that did schuhplatte dancing. It was very gemutlichkeit. Everyone enjoyed the evening. It was a perfect way to end our trip in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Frau Christina Bierstock was very nice and very helpful. The location was perfect for us. We did a lot of walking and took several side trips. We visited Schloss Neuschwanstein and Fussen, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, and Oberamagau. Slightly disappointed at Neuschwanstein. We waited about 4 or more hours for our tour. It was very crowded and although what we saw was interesting and beautiful the tour was too short.
My first week in Katlengurg with my husband's family was everything I wanted. We scattered his ashes at this parent's grave site with his bother, sister, spouses, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and friends there to say our good byes. I wanted his family to have their final good-bye and the only way to do this was to bring part of him home. Although the real purpose of my trip was to help bring closure to my loss and it was emotional but meaningful, the rest of the trip was most pleasurable.
Thank you for all you help. Everything went smoothly. I am hoping that I will be able to visit Germany again in the future and I will surely contact you. I will pass our great experience on to friends and family that may be planning a trip to German. I truly can say that the best way to enjoy Germany is to "Live-Like-a-German."
Thanks again,
Maria
Munich, 4 nights in early June 2010
By Caitlin Keating (Yarraville, AU, stayed in vacation apartment "Residence Obersendling"):
Hi Bettina
We had an amazing time in Munich - we loved every minute of it! The weather was beautiful and the apartment suited our needs perfectly. The apartment was clean and spacious, and very well managed by the 'Housekeeper'. It also has a children's play area (with a slide, sand pit) in the centre of the apartment block, which wasn't mentioned in the promotional material but was greatly appreciated by my son!
There were a few supermarkets, a bakery and a pizza restaurant within close walking distance. The U-Bahn was probably about a 10 minute walk.
Anyway, we spent time in the city centre - Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt etc - walking around, shopping, eating and looking at the sights. We also went to numerous beer gardens (Augustinerkeller, Munchner Haupt (this one is just at the end of the road to the apartment), Das Bootshaus etc.), which were a fantastic place to relax in the hot weather. They were also great for keeping our 1 year old entertained on the playgrounds next to the tables! As it was so hot (about 30 degrees every day) we also spent a day at the Maria Einsiedel pool. It also has a great pool for children, and was about 5 euros each for the day.
Anyway, thank you for your help in sorting out our stay in Munich. We can't wait to go back!
Please let me know if you need any more information.
cheers
Caitlin Keating
Heidelberg, 6 nights in early July 2010
By Diane Behl (Logan, Utah, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Heidel-Home 3"):
Hello Bettina,
We found the apartment very sufficient. The location was convenient, although I had forgotten that the 2nd floor in the U.S. is the 3rd floor in Germany! The weather was very hot, and so the apartment was pretty hot during the evenings. However, the landlord provided us with a fan along with wine, chocolates, and lovely soaps. They were very gracious - great experience!
Füssen, Bavaria, 4 days in May 2010

By Santanu Bhattacharya (Garuda Char Palya, India, stayed in vacation apartment "Schwanensee"):
Thank you very much for organizing part of our trip to Germany.
The apartment was great - big (16 ft high ceiling), airy with enough space for 4 people, beautiful sun room, a bit ornate design in the living room + central location, next to the supermarket and bakery.
We enjoyed our stay there and kids had great deal of fun.
Castle Sommersdorf, Burgoberbach, 9 days in May 2010

By Paul Brunner (Waukesha, WI, USA, stayed in single room "Sommersdorf Bird"):
We really had a great time staying in the Castle Sommersdorf!
We were especially appreciative for the Baron taking us for a ride in his model car (see picture). He thanked our son for his service and encouragement before his deployment to Afghanistan.
This was a very important trip for us. Our son is now in Afghanistan and a number of his buddies have died. She worries daily. Thanks for the great memories and if you can forward that to the Baron and his wife it would be appreciated.

Cologne, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, 5 nights, June 2010
By John Kaiser (Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Niedermann Grand Suite"):
Bettina,
I would highly recommend the apartments in Köln and Garmisch. Both owners were very accommodating and friendly. The apartments were large and homey. They were also in quiet neighborhoods. The Köln one had easy access to the S-bahn, less than a three minute walk.Garmisch was a short walk to downtown or the bus to go elsewhere. She even let us use her bikes to ride.
Munich apartment was nice but very utilitarian. One large room and a bath. Where the other two had multiple rooms. It was a seven minute walk to the u and s bahn station. It was on the corner of a very busy street. Felt like I was in a limited service hostel instead of an apartment. Staff was very helpful and made repairs quickly when asked.

Bettina,
We returned yesterday and had a wonderful time in Germany. The apartment was great and the owner Rudolph Malter was very welcoming and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. We would highly recommend this apartment to others. :)

Warnemünde, 5 days in June 2010
By Robert Martin (Jacksonville, Florida, US, stayed in vacation apartment "Haus Mohrenfels 2"):
Hallo Bettina,
Well, we are back in Berlin after an enjoyable time in Warnemünde. Our observations: The accomodations were as advertised, however I feel that the flat is bigger than advertised. The listing stated 30 square meters and I feel that this is just the bedroom. I did not have a tape measure, but in pacing off the space I came up with about 600+ square feet for the entire space. The space is in an older, but in good repair, building. with wood floors, and solid wood furniture and everything worked and was in good repair. The area rugs were clean and fairly new. It is true that it is over a restaurant, but what was not stated was that it is on the third level. We had no problems or noise from the restaurant of any kind.
The representative, Herr Kröger was very nice, and we were left pretty much on our own. We were provided with a covered parking place, and since everything is so close, we did not have to use the car the entire time. The location is ideal.
We visited there 3 years ago and what we noticed most is that the tourist business is off a considerable amount. Many shops, stores, and stalls are either closed, open short hours, or open only on saturday and sunday. Not many tourists were there while we were there. We would definitely recommend this to others who want a holiday on the Ostsee, or just a holiday.
Bis Bald........Bob Martin and Lussja
