Dresden, 7 nights in early September 2010
By Vivien Walker (Derby, UK):
Hello Bettina
We had an absolutely wonderful time in Dresden. We all enjoyed the apartment very much. It was very spacious which made for a very relaxed atmosphere. Everything was clean and tidy and the owner is a very kind and welcoming gentleman. The apartment is in an upmarket area of Dresden which means we had the best of both worlds in that we could easily get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Unfortunately the weather was not so good whilst we were there, otherwise we would have used the Elbe cycle path to get in and out of Dresden and to see the sights local to the apartment. I am sure we will be visiting Dresden again to see how it continues to develop, it is a very beautiful city. Our next journey within Germany will probably be around Hamburg, Lubeck, Berlin, and possibly the Hartz mountains – do you have accommodation in these areas too?
We will certainly be recommending you to our friends.
Kind regards
Viv

This apartment in Dresden worked perfectly, it was so central - if a little noisy late in the evenings because of the restaurants below - we spent our last morning at the beautiful Frauenkirche!
Wetzlar, 16 days in early September 2010
By Sherien Farouk (Abu Dhabi, CA, stayed in vacation apartment "Altstadtperle"):
Dear Bettina
The appart. was good, the owner also was very helpful, only one thing, the rental price is over the market in Wetzlar, we met too many people renting apart. for less. Thank you for the help and best regards.

Berchtesgaden, 7 nights, early October 2010
By Elizabeth Mitchell (Wilmore, Kentucky, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Datz"):
The apt was wonderful. It is centrally located. She [the owner] had it well stocked and supplied. I think she thought of everything. My brother took all the photos so I don't have any. The owner was very helpful, warm and easy to be around. The only negative comment I have is parking is a problem. It was further complicated because train tracks were being built behind her house so the train can run from Salzburg to Berchtesgaden. So that area could not be used for parking.
This was my 10th trip to Germany and my 2nd to Berchtesgaden. You might say I like Germany. My grandfather was born in Liebstadt--near Dresden.
Glad you found the apt for us. Many thanks.
Elizabeth
Cologne, 9 nights, early August 2010
By Dennis Holding (Miami Beach, Florida, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Roessner"):
Hello Bettina,
We are at "home" at the houseboat in Amsterdam. Next week Miami and then home in Rio for a week! The Roessner place is great for a family. It was fine for the two of us and as advertised. They do not have Wi-Fi but do have a cable so that a laptop can be plugged in. Kitchen worked well.
It is a quiet neighborhood and 10 to 15 minutes to Dom area and Messe by car. The tram line is also only a few hundred meters away.
Claudia [the owner] was kind enough to wash our team uniforms on 4 nights .... we left her extra Euro's for this service. The mother of Rudi who lives around the corner is also very pleasant and had a houseful of players that you had organized. Yes, you can sell this property with full confidence.
Regards,
Dennis Holding
Füssen, Bavaria, 1 night, in late September 2010
By John Schmidlein (Waltham, Massachussets, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Seespitz (3-room)"):
Bettina,
both Ruedesheim and Fuessen went very well: Margaret and her mother [owners] do a great job at the Ruedesheim Pension Blattersbach. They serve breakfest with all four rooms worth of people at different tables. She gives out complimentary juice glasses when her guests leave. My girlfriend lost an earring when we were there; we called her five days later and she had found it and even drove down to the train station to give it to us. She's a very sociable lady who loves having people around.Fuessen was also good - It's right on the Austrian border, and a couple of kilometers from the A7 Autobahn. It's only 5 or 8 k from Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles. We saw the Neuschwanstein which was great. The Alps are beautiful there. We would have liked to rent a canoe but didn't have time. The rooms at SeeSpitz have refrigerators, stoves, and dishwashers, and there's a clothes washing machine downstairs. Free internet and coffee were helpful too. We got on a train to Munich from Fuessen at 7AM and were surprised when alot of kids got on with open beers in hand and carrying cases of beer too; but it was Oktoberfest.
Thanks again for your efforts, especially on such short notice.
- John
Munich, 7 nights, in mid September 2010
By Maria O'Leary Ridings (Ramsey, NJ, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Residence Obersendling"):
Hi Bettina,
We had a wonderful time. The apartment worked out great. We didn't explore much of the area around the apartment - except for the place to get morning coffee and baked goodies. The apartment was very convenient, a very short walk to the subway and then only about a 10 minute ride to Marienplatz in the city center. It also had everything we needed. The rest of our trip was great also - even though we had that glitch one day one causing us to arrive a day later than we planned. Thanks for all your assistance and for the Rick Steven's book. We brought it with us and it was quite useful. Thanks again,
Maria

Leipzig, 3 days, in October 2010
By Judith Gifford (Miranda, New South Wales, Australia, stayed in vacation apartment "Krogmann (1st Floor)"):
In September/October 2010 we (a couple of Austalian Seniors) travelled by train using a Eurail Saver Pass to various regions of Germany. One of the highlights was a 3 night stay in Leipzig in a self-catering apartment about 4km from the city centre .. Apartment Krogman, Helmholtzstrasse 1.
Using a Leipzig Card purchased on-line prior to arrival we were able to access by public transport, all of the sights including, St Thomas Church and Bach Museum, Nikolai Church, The Museum of Fine Arts, Madler Passage.. an arcade where Goethe's Faust is commemorated, The Stasi Museum (a stark reminder of times past) , The Museum of Fine Arts, The Gewandhaus, Symphony Hall and the magnificent main railway station rebuilt after the destruction of WW2.
Live-Like-A-German and the friendly professional services of Bettina Kraft made Leipzig a highlight of our tour of Germany. All our details were managed expertly. On arrival we were met promptly by the owner's representative with keys and information about the local area.
We would highly recommend LLAG as a travel resource and as once used by an Australian Travel promotion "You Never, Never, Know if You Never, Never Go!"

Bad Nauheim, Duderstadt, 9 days, in early December 2010
By Dave Kirby (New Port Richey, Florida, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Am Park"):
I really enjoyed Duderstadt and Bad Nauheim, the two cities I stayed at in my nine days in Germany. The LLAG apartment that I rented in Bad Nauheim was charming and problem free. I did find that English-speakers were a little harder to find than I was led to believe, especially in Duderstadt, but it was not a problem, really. When I go back, I would not rent a car if I were by my self, but with two or more, a car would be economical. The cities are fun to walk in and anything you need is within walking distance. I'm looking forward to my next trip.
Thanks, Fräulein Kraft.

Hi Bettina,
Thank you for your help with our accommodation in Cologne, the apartment was very suitable for us. The lady, while she didn't speak much english, was very helpful and really kept the apartment well.We were delighted to wake up one morning and it had snowed the night before, being from Sydney we are not use to snow at the front door, and the christmas decorations were wonderful.
Best wishes to you for the holiday season and the new year,

Munich, 1 week, December/January 2011
By Christine Stallkamp (Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Giesing"):
Hi Bettina,
I wanted to let you know that we had a fabulous time in Munich. The apartment worked out just fine. It was very close to several grocery stores and to the Ubahn. Kent was able to get out with us every day. We took the train down to Tegernsee one day for sledding then to Lenggries another day for skiing. It was great!
Only negatives to the apartment were: very limited kitchen, which was not conducive to meals in the house. The "stove" was basically 2 burners on top of a toaster oven that required cooking at chest- height (beware of pointy- bras!) Also, the towels were pretty old, tiny and thin. We thought the bathrooms were very good based on European standards, even thought the hot water was intermittent.
Overall, we had plenty of room and were able to be together, which was the goal. Thanks for all your help. I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday time.
Thanks so much!
Chrissy Stallkamp
