4 Stars Rating   Nurembeg, 4 days over Christmas 2010

By Robert Sigworth (Traverse City, Michigan, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Southside"):

We were met on time by the owner, who was very polite and showed us a few things about the apartment. He made sure we knew his phone number for any problems. His english was good enough, and he made up for any lack by a big smile.

The apartment itself was bigger than I had expected. The website was confusing in that I think it said one bedroom, but the floor plan showed two, and indeed, it did have two bedrooms. Perfect for us as the second bedroom was large and had two single beds. The bathroom is nice, with the toilet in a different room from the bath, which is nice for families.

The kitchen was great, large, nice appliances, lots of counter space. We cooked both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners in the oven, which was nice to have. Everything was well stocked for us, including necessary items to wash dishes, and even soap for laundry.

The living room was huge. I appreciated the little touches there, such as a cabinet with some artwork, and other items hanging on the walls. We felt right at home, and it was a nice place to share Christmas together. The owner even put up a little Christmas tree on the dining table, and we put our presents around it, just like at home.

I really have no complaints about this apartment. The location was good as far as getting groceries, with a grocery store a block away. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the train station, easy to find. Yes, it is in the opposite direction from the Old Town, but that was not a big deal. Indeed, from what I saw, it is probably easier to get groceries in this neighborhood than in the old quarter.

Thanks for your professionalism in our dealings with you prior to our departure. I will certainly recommend you to anyone going to Germany.

Sincerely,
Rob Sigworth

By Christopher Kelly (Kirribilli, Australia, stayed in vacation apartment "Roessner"):

Hi Bettina,
Thank you for your help with our accommodation in Cologne, the apartment was very suitable for us. The lady, while she didn't speak much english, was very helpful and really kept the apartment well.

We were delighted to wake up one morning and it had snowed the night before, being from Sydney we are not use to snow at the front door, and the christmas decorations were wonderful.

Best wishes to you for the holiday season and the new year,
Rosemary and Chris Kelly

By Mitchell Price (Saegertown, PA, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Lothringer Dell (Erdgeschoss)"):

The apartment was great, it met our expectations and provided us an opportunity to truly “live like a German” for 10 days. Our hosts, the Moritz’s, were helpful and gracious. This was a much better experience than staying in a hotel would have been. I would not hesitate to recommend them or your service to anyone traveling to Germany.

Thank you,
Mitchell & Tammy Price

5 Stars Rating   Castle Sommersdorf, Burgoberbach, 4 nights in April 2010

By Kim Bouchard (Clinton, NC, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Sommersdorf Butterfly Room"):

Hi, I am an alumni Mom from last year. For my son, the last few months were the ABSOLUTE best and his family in German loves him as their own child. In fact, several members of his family visited for several weeks last year when he returned, which really helped with his transition back to USA (which has been difficult). We also visited in April during our Easter break.....BIG MISTAKE! Germany takes their holidays SERIOUS! EVERYTHING was closed Good Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday! We stayed for 12 days and had a GREAT time, but the 4 shutdown days on our arrival was a little un-nerving! Carry multiple credit cards and make sure to "clear" them with the cc company BEFORE you leave. Also, all public restrooms cost 1 Euro to use.....I used a LOT of EUROS!

My BEST hint: We booked and pre-paid for all or our accommodations BEFORE leaving the USA. We stayed in apartments and small homes, and even a CASTLE (Sommersdorf) while were gone...all at a fraction of the cost hotel, plus we were a total to 5 traveling (we brought along Doran's host brother). We always had a real place to call "home" and spend some quality time together and apart! Wetzlar was our absolute favorite...we stayed in a beautifully decorated 2 bedroom apartment, kitchen, washer/dryer, and large living room. Our apt. was on the second floor of the main street overlooking the entire village. It was only about a 30 minute drive into Cologne for day trips. Sommersdorf castle in Burgoberbach was also a stay to remember for ALWAYS!

Here is a link to Live Like a German that we used to broker all of our accomodations. It was a real relief to have it done before we left. Also, don't forget to pre-book and pre-pay for your rental car. Again, credit cards are sketchy in some places at best!

Have fun,
Kim Bouchard

3 Stars Rating   Heidelberg, 9 nights, early January 2011

By Helen Somerville (Australia, stayed in vacation apartment "Schröderstrasse Maisonette"):

Sorry [Bettina] i didn't get back to you sooner - You know how it is ...after a trip..
Found the apartment ok with the help of friends. As far as comfort goes it was not great for our size famiy - even though we were 2 adults and 2 children the area was far too small.

I should have checked it out more. It was clean and the kitchen and bathroom were fantastic. However the main TV area were too small and I would only recommend it for a couple. We didn't realise (again me maybe not reading..properly the finer print), that all our beds would be in the same room. Terrible for all of us as my husband snores a little and none got any sleep.

Location was fantastic. The owner was great and helpful. We loved Heidelberg and would go again but not stay there and definitely check the apartment out properly. Loved your service and would definitely go through your company again!
thanks so much BETTINA

By Ken Lu (Yong-Kang City, Taiwan, stayed in vacation apartment "Rattmann (1)"):

Hi Bettina,
Overall the apartment was well functionally furnished and convenient due to its close proximity (within 50m) to the local bus terminal. The wireless internet availability is also essential to the convenience factor.

The only complaint is the noise that I talked about due to people playing loud music at nights in the restaurant below. And another small note for the water leaking at the base of the shower where it connects to the floor.

Regards,
Ken Lu

By Hod Pizem ( Tsim Sha Tsui East, HK, stayed in single room "Tokus (Room Apt.)"):

Hi Bettina,
Overall the word I would use to describe the apartment is “modest”. All was OK yet nothing outstanding, for good or bad. The landlord was very pleasant and the facility was adequate.

The only comments I would choose to make is regarding some facilities and the television which was very small LCD screen with a German/European channels only and poor quality reception. As an international traveler I would expect CNN, BBC World and other international channels to be available, to keep in touch with the world. Not only that but internet was as well not available.

As you may seek to have international travelers using the facilities more user friendly equipment and facilities like having international plugs available for the electricity and other small things like a local phone, should I require a local contact, like a Taxi etc, would have been wonderful.

Location wise, I would prefer to be closer to town, yet not a major problem.

Overall I would consider your service again next year with a greater deal of scrutiny.
Regards
Hod Pizem

By Raymond Yang (Wonju, KR, stayed in vacation apartment "Tokus (Double Apt.)"):

Hi Bettina!
I just returned from Korea a few weeks ago, and still getting into the rhythm here in Korea.

I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tokus apartment. It was clean, comfortable, warm, and quiet. It was in a great location concerning public transportation. However, we rented a car so we didn't use the bus or subway. I'd definitely consider staying there next year.

Regards,
Raymond

By Rick Noon (The Woodlands, TX, USA, stayed in vacation apartment "Tankumsee (Studio)"):

Hello Bettina,
I had a wonderful time while in Germany. The duplex I had rented was great, offering coffee maker, washing machine, refrigerator, stove, clean sheets/towels...really all the comforts of home. Herr and Frau Schreiner were very nice and more than accommodating, very pleasant people. I would certainly stay there again.

Thanks,
Rick

The apartment suited us as it was close to the centre of Munich and we only needed beds for our stay. The host was very welcoming and we found the apartment had what we needed for our stay.

By Donna Benson (Greenback, Tennessee, US, stayed in vacation apartment "Guest Paradise"):

Hi Ms Kraft,
Thank you for the note & Welcome Home greeting. We had a great "reunion" and a wonderful time seeing some sights. Spent a couple of days in Austria - and yes, I think the "Hills are alive - with the sound of music"!! Gorgeous country. Out place was very nice. It was upstairs so my 90 yr old mother-in-law had some good exercise. It was very roomy & a nice respite at the end of hectic days. And being in a smaller town was nice. We were a bit farther from the relatives (@30 mi) but having access to the auobahn wasn't a bad thing!! Whee - it was a trip driving it. Thank you for your help in making this possible - and enjoyable for us.
Gene & Donna Benson
